Before this Megane arrived at a local Renault dealership in North East, the owner had already arranged to have it in at the GetPolished Car Care Centre for our Swissvax New Car Protection Detail.

Upon arrival the car was in very good condition with no “major” swirls or marks other than the rear lights which seemed to be badly scratched.

The detail started as normal with the engine being washed down, moving onto the wheels, window crevices and throughly cleaning out the arches and wheels.  The car was then foamed using ValetPro PH neutral Snow foam and a Snow Foam Lance.

After the initial wash down the car was pulled inside, dried and given a thorough inspection before any more work was carried out.  After dealing with many new cars it was a pleasant surprise to see only very minor defects on the paint and plastic surfaces.

The Megane R.S. 250 was then clayed using Yellow Poly Clay and polished with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid Pro and pre wax cleansed using Swissvax Cleaner Fluid Medium.  The car was then given 2 coats of Swissvax Shield wax to give the car ultimate protection against the winter elements approaching.

Whilst the wax was curing all other elements of the car would get fully cleansed and protected using once again only the best car care products, such as all the leather including the Leather Recaro seats using Swissvax Leather Milk, wheel protection with Swisswax Autobahn, all in-car plastics protected, windows, exterior brightwork prepped / polished and sealed, and finally tyres, arches and engine bay detailed and protection applied.

This Detail follows along the same lines as the standard Protection Detail but uses the best harder wearing detailing wax. This will provide better long term wax protection. It is also advised, that if a maintenace programme is not in place, that arches, especially those that have an internal lip are kept clear of buildup, so that salt does not have time to cause corrosion in unseen places.

So ive been waiting patiently for my new caddy to arrive since selling the silver one a few months back… well it finally arrived last friday and within a few hours after being delivered to Benfield it was PDI’d, left completely unwashed with all stickers and transport wax still present and untouched, so with just 6.4 miles i set off to the detailing bay which resulted in a few extra miles… heres a video of how it rolled out of GetPolished HQ with only 10.4miles on the clock.

The car had undergone a full thorough wash down using an array of car care products, such as Non Acidic Wheel Cleaner, and Citrus Pre Wash before moving onto Valet Pro PH Neutral Snow Foam and the snow foam lance. During the wash stage, Valet pro Posiedons Carnauba Wash and a High quality Sheep Skin Mitt was used with bucket and grit guard to clear the paint surfaces ready for clay.  Swissvax Paint Rubber (Clay Bar) was used to remove contaminants safely from all surfaces.

The car then went through the correction process using cutting compounds, polishing compounds and refining compounds, best suited to the Mercedes paint, finishing off with Swissvax Professional Paint Cleaner to help prepare the surfaces ready for wax application.  On this occasion Swissvax Best of Show was the wax of choice due to its super wet look properties and its durability.

The Swissvax Crystal (Car Window Cleaner) was used to clean the windows and then  Swissvax Pneu (Tyre Dressing) was used to dress the tyres whilst the wax had time to cure.  The wheels were also sealed using Swissvax Autobahn (wheel Sealant).

Swissvax Leather Cleaner was used to clean all of the leather covered surfaces inside and Swissvax Leather Milk was used to feed and protect . This help pass the time whilst Swissvax Best of Show had cured and was ready to be buffed to a shine.  A second coat was applied once the initial coat had time to set and again that coat was then buffed after curing, the SL63 was then underwent thorough post detail inspection…. here are the results.

GetPolished attended the Autosport show with the Swissvax team this year, and the guys from Porsche Club Great Britain where only to pleased to have us take care of the cars on their stand, which included such motors as 911 GT2 RS and the Martini 935.

Now, I’m sure you have seen this car in the banner on our website already and I thought what better way to properly start the thread than with a quick write up of the day, detailing this brand new Mercedes SLS.

I had already taken care of my clients SL63 and Range Rover, after he asked me to complete a new car detail on his SLS as soon as he had drove it home from the factory in Germany, I was very excited to work on such a car and also wanted to help him keep the car in tip top condition.

So where to start? Well the car looked truly awesome on arrival tucked away in its new home after travelling home from the factory, and it sounded just as good whilst pulling out of its home ready for it first “proper” treatment.

Pre wash inspection would show a few badly marked areas for immediate attention and some areas showing signs of disrespect from those who prepared the car for collection, not something you would expect on a vehicle of this caliber.

So I set to it with the wash stages.

After the full wash and clay prep the sun gun was brought out to unveil the many defects left by those who prepared the car, to say I was disgraced is an understatement

The day was going to be much longer than initially expected, so the camera was set aside and I got to it putting right all the wrongs that just wouldn’t be expected on an brand new SLS.

After correcting the defects and then preparing the car using Swissvax Cleaner Fluid, the choice of wax was always going to be 2 coats of Swissvax Best of Show, the metallic enhancing properties of this wax will give the paintwork the real depth of shine and the lustrous quality finish it deserves, along with the ultimate protection for the months ahead.

The interior of the SLS was also detailed using many products and techniques and the Leather work had the treatment of Swissvax Leather Cleaner followed by Swissvax Leather Milk to help protect and keep the leather supple and supportive for those times along the twisty roads when the bolsters really come into action!

The car was then pulled outside for a few shots of my own but also for the professional photographer to come and capture the outstanding beauty and engineering of the Mercedes SLS. I will post up the image from Kurt Blytham at the end of this blog for you all to marvel! Thank you Kurt
